Humidifier Filter – HAC-504
As crazy as it is, most people don’t even realize how badly they need a humidifier until they find themselves with a health problem or their doctor suggests they put a humidifer in their home. It’s true that most people’s health or skin problems could improve simply by using a Honeywell humidifier. This is especially true of those who live in arid climates.
It is also true that a humidifier is only as good as its filter. For most Honeywell humidifier models, the HAC-504 humidifer filter or the newer HAC-504AW works well as a replacement filter.

If you have searched for an HAC-504 Replacement Filter, you have undoubtedly run into the item HAC-504AW. This is actually the current filter the replaces the HAC-504. The “AW” stands for air washing. Either filter will work. Since there has been some confusion about this filter, I have verified with Honeywell that this is the updated and correct filter. This replacement filter for most Honeywell natural cool moisture humidifiers removes minerals and pollutants from water. Air Washing pre-filter helps trap dust before it enters the filter. These filters are heavier duty than ones previously used in other humdifiers. We run two humidifiers all year round here in the Utah desert, and these filters are MUCH better than the regular ones. It’s worth a little more to get these. The blue on the outside helps them last longer and filter the air better.
For Which Models Will the HAC-504 Filter Work?

Humidifiers Reduce Survival of Flu V-i-r-u-s-e-s on Surfaces and in the Air
It is a well-known fact that humidifiers help relieve your cold and flu symptoms when you or your family are sick. Yet, there’s one thing you may not have known about humidifers…
A recent study of findings suggests that keeping indoor air at an RH level of 40-60% reduces survival of flu v-i-r-u-s-e-s compared to lower RH levels. In other words, a good humidifier like the Honeywell humidifiers can reduce the survival of flu v-i-r-u-s-e-s on surfaces and in the air.
We’ve all come to rely upon humidifiers for relief of cough and cold symptoms throughout the years, but now we know they also may play an important role in reducing the survival of the flu v-i-r-u-s on both surfaces and in the air.
Of course, the correct filter changed regularly, as directed, is necessary to get the most out of your humidifier. This is why we have built this site around the HAC-504 Honeywell Humidifier Replacement Filter.
